Lost Melodies: Hope Koehler performs songs of John Jacob Niles: James Douglass, piano

Soprano Hope Koehler's new CD Lost Melodies is a very convincing document of her love for and expertise in the compositions of John Jacob Niles. Her first CD of Niles songs, The Lass from the Low Countree, was released two years ago and received with acclaim. Lost Melodies, a collection of 18 previously unpublished or out-of-print songs, is renewed proof that she is arguably the most authoritative interpreter of works by the legendary composer and balladeer. James Douglass is her partner on both CDs. His sensitive, expressive playing perfectly underscores every aspect of the stories told in these songs.
